Founded in 1889, Barnes HC has a long and proud history.
In 1914, the club was forced to stop during the First World War and their pitch was used as allotments!
The club then reformed in 1919 after a meeting at the local pub, the Coach and Horses, as a part of Barnes Sports Club and within just two years, Barnes HC was flourishing. There were three men’s teams and two ladies teams – the second ladies team being introduced after popular demand. In the same year, the current club colours of blue shirts were replaced the traditional white shirts after a number of players went rogue and wore cricket shirts on the hockey pitch.
In 2005, Hounslow hockey club merged with Barnes Hockey Club, and we played for a period under the name of Barnes Hounslow and Ealing, before reverting to simply Barnes Hockey Club.
In 2019, the club changed its official name again to Hounslow and Barnes HC. Irrespective of name, we have continued to blossom. Today the club boasts 6 men’s teams and 7 ladies teams as well as a thriving junior section – and we hope to continue growing!
We will do our best to get back to you as soon as possible.
